Maserati has not had the best of times as of late. With low sales figures and rumors that it could be bought by another brand, the Italian automaker needs a boost. Well, the Trident brand is doing what it can after our spies managed to spot what appeared to be the refreshed versions of the Maserati Grecale and Grecale Folgore EV.

That's right, the brand's compact luxury crossover SUV is set to receive a facelift, and it looks like it may be a subtle one. Based on what our spies were able to capture, both the internal combustion and EV versions of the Grecale will get an updated look, particularly on its front and rear fascias.

Based on the photos, the front bumper and grille design could get a makeover to keep up with the times and perhaps make it more aerodynamic. In the Folgore (AKA EV version), the changes could be more drastic since EVs need to have a more aerodynamic and fluid shape to make the most out of their range.

The rest of the vehicle will likely be carried over since there's not much camouflage on the side and rear. However, the brand could pull a surprise and has yet to give the rest of the crossover exterior changes. Even the interior appears to be the same, but then again, perhaps Maserati has yet to apply any of the pending changes they plan to give the Grecale and Grecale Folgore.

When it comes to powertrain options, the 2.0L turbocharged mild-hybrid inline-four and the more powerful twin-turbo V6 will likely continue to power the updated Maserati Grecale. The former puts out up to 330 PS with 450 Nm of torque, while the latter can generate up to 530 PS and 620 Nm of torque. Both engines are then mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

As for the Grecale Folgore, the EV variant has a 105 kWh battery pack and is powered by a pair of electric motors. This gives it a combined system output of 558 PS and a range of up to 500 km, based on the WLTP cycle.

There's no exact timeline yet as to when Maserati plans to launch the updated Grecale line. However, they could hold the official launch sometime later this year.
