Revealed: This is the all-new 2027 BMW 3 Series
BMW officially unveils the eighth-generation 3 Series
It's officially official. After a slew of teasers, spy shots, and insider info, the all-new BMW 3 Series has been unveiled. The eighth-generation 3 Series follows the reveal of the all-electric i3 and comes with the brand's now familiar Neue Klasse design philosophy.

Just like the i3, the latest 3 Series follows the sleek and dynamic look, resulting in a sporty sedan that comes with a modern 2.5-box design that has become synonymous with BMW. While the overall design of the all-new 3 Series is the same as the i3, the combustion model features a longer and lower hood. Meanwhile, the LED headlights appear to be wider and more prominent due to the 3 Series having an engine under the hood, unlike the i3's all-electric powertrain.
Size-wise, the all-new 3 Series measures 4754mm long, 1849mm long, and 1455mm tall. In comparison, the i3 measures 4759mm long, 1864mm wide, and 1480mm tall. This makes the eighth-generation 3 Series more compact compared to the all-electric i3. When it comes to wheel choices, the all-new 3 Series is available with 18-, 19-, and 20-inch alloys and can be specified with the M Sport package or M Sport Package Pro.

Despite having the Neue Klasse design language, the latest 3 Series actually uses a modified version of the previous generation's CLAR platform. This means the i3 EV only gets to use the current Neue Klasse platform meant for electric models.

Hop inside, and those familiar with the i3 and the latest vehicles from BMW will find a similar-looking cabin and dashboard. With its dynamic, airy, and high-tech design, the interior of the all-new 3 Series is designed to make drivers feel relaxed and cocooned in a cutting-edge cabin. This is made possible with the new BMW Panoramic iDrive that's assisted by the brand's Panoramic Vision, Central Display, and 3D heads-up display.
At the center of the dashboard is a wide 17.9-inch instrument panel that's angled towards the driver and provides a wide view of key driving & vehicle information. There's also the new leather-wrapped steering wheel, the central touchscreen infotainment display that's powered by the latest Operating System X with wireless connectivity features, and the hidden air vents that are part of the dual-zone climate control.

Other interior features include a panoramic sunroof, power-adjustable seats with memory function, M Sport seats on higher-grade models, heated or ventilated seats, a hi-fi or Harman Kardon surround sound system, the Comfort Package, and a choice of leather upholstery finishes.

Under the hood, the all-new BMW 3 Series is available (for now) with just two engine options. First up is the entry-level 320, which gets a 2.0L TwinPower Turbo inline-four that puts out 211 PS and 330 Nm of torque. It benefits from a 48V mild-hybrid setup, which consists of a small electric motor delivering an extra 11 PS with 25 Nm of torque and a 48V battery. Power is then sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Next up is the flagship M350 xDrive, which comes with a 3.0L TwinPower Turbo inline-six. It also benefits from a 48V mild-hybrid system, which translates to a total system output of 443 PS and a staggering 580 Nm of torque. Thanks to an AWD system that comes as standard, BMW claims the M350 xDrive can go from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.

With all that power available on tap, BMW also introduced Drift Moment for the M350 xDrive. Despite its quirky name, this feature sets the drivetrain to send all its power to the rear wheels. It will be available to customers via an update, although there's no exact timeline for its availability.
With the all-new 3 Series revealed, perhaps we can expect BMW Philippines to bring the latest sedan sometime next year. We're keeping our fingers crossed we won't have to wait that long.
