Subaru Philippines distributor Motor Image Pilipinas Inc. (MIPI) has officially expanded its lineup of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Joining the electrified Subaru Forester is the 2026 Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid, and it just made its debut at this year’s Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

At the heart of the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid is a 2.0L boxer flat-four engine that’s assisted by an electric motor that’s placed longitudinally along the vehicle to maintain its low center of gravity and a small lithium-ion battery pack. The result is a total system output of 156 PS at 6000 rpm along with 196 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to all four wheels via a Lineartronic CVT and the brand’s Symmetrical AWD.

With a fully charged battery, the electric motor can independently power the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid at certain speeds and even while coasting. This translates to improved fuel consumption in city driving conditions. Moreover, the system benefits from regenerative braking to recharge the battery while on the go.

Style-wise, the electrified Crosstrek still looks the same as the regular model. However, it does come with subtle differences, including “Hybrid” badges on the tailgate to remind everyone that it’s electrified. More importantly, Subaru says the e-Boxer Hybrid still comes with 220mm of ground clearance, which allows it to go over rough terrain with ease. In addition, the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid is equipped with Dual-Function X-Mode, hill-descent control, and active torque vectoring to ensure it can keep on going in uneven terrain.

Hop inside, and the electrified Crosstrek welcomes occupants into a stylish and practical cabin. The dashboard houses a tablet-inspired 11.6-inch touchscreen media system that supports wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. It also has a six-speaker sound system and an intelligent voice recognition system to help users dictate commands while driving.

Other key features present inside include dual-zone climate control, a wireless charging pad, full leather upholstery, paddle shifters, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a power sunroof, and a host of charging ports for the front & rear passengers.

For additional peace of mind, the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid is equipped with the EyeSight 4.0 suite of ADAS. This gives the crossover intelligent driver aids like adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking with autonomous emergency braking, lane-centering control with adaptive steering, lane departure prevention, lead vehicle start alert, and high-beam assist. It also has an emergency driving stop system, which can bring the vehicle to a complete stop if it detects a prolonged period without steering input.
