NISMO has officially opened its first Performance Center outside Japan, giving Australia’s thriving Nissan performance scene a direct link to the brand’s legendary Omori Factory.

Dedicated to engineering high-performance vehicles, NISMO’s latest move marks the first step in Nissan’s broader push to expand its global presence and services.

Located at Ferntree Gully Nissan near Melbourne, the new facility recently opened with rows of Skyline GT-Rs and other Nissan performance icons turning up for the launch. Among them were R32, R33, and R34 GT-Rs, along with C10 and R30 Skylines, R35 GT-Rs, RZ34 Zs, and even an R34 GT-R S-Tune.

More than just a showroom, the NISMO Performance Center Melbourne will provide genuine NISMO performance and heritage parts, technical support from certified NISMO Meisters, and advanced restoration services.

The facility will initially focus on the R32, R33, and R34 Skyline GT-Rs, with support also extending to newer Nissan Z models.

The center gives Australian owners access to restoration techniques, parts, and expertise linked directly to NISMO’s Omori Factory, reducing the need to send cars overseas or rely on aftermarket alternatives.

“NISMO is about bringing the brand closer to customers in the right markets, with the right products, services and experiences,” said Yutaka Sanada, global head of the NISMO brand. “Australia is a natural priority because of its mature performance culture, strong GT-R community and clear appetite for authentic NISMO heritage.”

Australia has long been one of the world’s biggest markets for Japanese performance cars, particularly the Skyline GT-R.

Relatively accessible import rules throughout the 1990s and 2000s, combined with its right-hand-drive market and proximity to Japan, helped foster a deep-rooted enthusiast culture and cement Australia’s reputation as a haven for Nihon steel.

The Melbourne facility is also only the beginning. Following NISMO’s announcement in December 2025 that it would expand its restoration, restomod, and parts businesses internationally, Nissan plans to open additional NISMO Performance Centers across Australia from 2027.

For now, though, Melbourne has the distinction of being home to the first NISMO outpost outside Japan, and for Australia’s GT-R faithful, that’s a pretty big deal.
