Hyundai Motor and Shell Lubricants renew partnership to advance future mobility solutions
Hyundai Motor Company announced today that it has extended its strategic partnership with Shell Lubricants through 2031, with a focus on strengthening collaboration in future mobility.
Hyundai Motor and Shell renewed their five-year Global Business Cooperation Agreement, reinforcing a relationship that was built on more than 20 years of collaboration since 2005. Under the new agreement, the two companies will pursue new joint initiatives focused on future mobility through expanded joint research and development (R&D), service marketing, and motorsports partnerships.
“We are pleased to extend Hyundai Motor’s long-standing partnership with Shell. Through our collaborative aftersales service marketing initiatives over the past years, we have successfully enhanced our global aftersales service competitiveness and improved customer satisfaction by delivering Shell's premium quality engine oils to Hyundai customers worldwide. Together, we will be better positioned to respond proactively to changes in the future mobility market while continuing to create greater value for our customers and strengthen our long-term global competitiveness,” said Beom Seok Kang, SVP & Head of Global Service Sub-Division at Hyundai Motor Company.
Going forward, Hyundai Motor and Shell will strengthen collaboration across multiple areas of the automotive business. The companies will continue joint service marketing activities to enhance customer satisfaction globally. Alongside this, they will expand joint research and development efforts focused on next-generation mobility solutions. Key R&D initiatives include improving engine oil quality and advancing fluids and coolants dedicated to electric vehicles.

“For more than two decades, Shell and Hyundai Motor have partnered to deliver innovation, performance, and customer value globally. As we look ahead, we are expanding our collaboration in next-generation e-fluids,
thermal management, digital innovation, and high-performance mobility. By combining our expertise, we will continue to develop solutions that enhance performance, efficiency, and sustainability for Hyundai Motor and our customers worldwide,” shared Lee Ming Seow, vice president, Global Key Accounts and New Business Development at Shell Lubricants.
As part of expanded collaboration in motorsports and high-performance vehicles, Shell, the world's No. 1 lubricants supplier for 19 consecutive years, has broadened its partnership with Genesis, the luxury brand of Hyundai Motor Group.
Shell has been serving as a performance and innovation partner to Genesis Magma Racing in its debut season in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2026, providing specialized lubricants and coolants for the GMR-001 Hypercar.
The partnership has also extended into the Hyundai N Division to co-engineer lubricants designed for high-performance engines and electric vehicles, offering Shell both a testbed for developing advanced products and a global platform to showcase its solutions to a community of performance-driven customers.
