Honda is currently in restructuring mode these days, as shifting market trends meant they weren’t able to bring their electric vehicles on time before demand has waned.

Since they were unable to catch the electric wave, Honda has suffered great losses financially, and is now reallocating its remaining development and production resources to now focus on hybrids.

Speaking of which, the company has decided to name its next-generation hybrid system, which will be rolled out globally starting in 2027 as… *drum roll* "Honda Hybrid."

Yes. Honda has decided to simplify calling its hybrid system as it is, and put the e:HEV aside for its brand communications. This way, Honda says the “Honda Hybrid” moniker more intuitively conveys the value proposition of Honda's hybrids—which achieve a high-level balance of "superior fuel efficiency" and "the joy of driving that appeals to all five senses"—to customers around the world.

In addition to expanding the engine's high-efficiency range, the company aims to further improve fuel efficiency through increased efficiency, miniaturization of the drive unit, and advancements in control technology.

These next-generation hybrid models equipped with "Honda Hybrid" are based on a newly developed platform that optimizes rigidity and reduces weight by employing new handling rigidity management that utilizes body flex to enhance tire grip.

Combined with Honda's unique integrated control technology "Motion Management System" and a newly developed electric AWD (all-wheel drive), they deliver a refined and exhilarating driving experience that appeals to all the senses, as well as a safer and more responsive driving experience that is uniquely Honda.

Honda plans to launch 15 models equipped with "Honda Hybrid" technology in global markets, including North America, by fiscal year 2029.
