Gran Turismo 7 gets biggest update yet; adds 12 new cars and tracks
The free two-part Spec IV update shows how Gran Turismo 7 is evolving based on what its players want.
Twelve new cars, two new tracks, and more ways to drive, race, and compete.
This is shaping up to be Gran Turismo 7’s biggest update yet, with Polyphony Digital delivering plenty of features and content players have been asking for.
Announced by series producer Kazunori Yamauchi during the latest PlayStation State of Play, the free Spec IV update will roll out in two parts, with the first arriving in October and the second in December 2026.

Two more tracks join the grid
The first new circuit to arrive in October is Sportsland SUGO, a technical Japanese track in the Tōhoku region and a regular fixture on the Super GT calendar.
Known for its significant elevation changes, plenty of challenging corners, and beautiful scenery, SUGO should provide a welcome addition to GT7’s growing selection of real-world circuits.

December will bring an even bigger surprise for longtime Gran Turismo fans: Autumn Ring is returning. The reversible, autumn-themed circuit features 17 corners and a highly technical layout, including a small overpass and a tight 270-degree turn.
The fictional circuit first appeared in Gran Turismo 2 and most recently featured in Gran Turismo 6. It will return with its original layout and scenery faithfully recreated, while Polyphony Digital is also adding an expanded configuration that offers a much larger circuit and new ways to drive.

More than just new cars
The October portion of the Spec IV update will add six new cars alongside a new opening cinematic and several new features.

The additional cars featured in the preview include: BMW M5 E60, Honda Mugen Motul Civic Si racecar, Citroen 2CV, Mazda RX-Vision GT-3, Xiaomi Vision GT and Honda Stepwgn. Another six cars will join the lineup starting in December along with several new modes.

Among the most notable is Car Concierge, which will allow players to order cars that are not currently available through the Used Cars or Legend Cars dealerships. These vehicles will appear under a new Vintage section within each manufacturer's menu.
The October update will also introduce Experience, a mode featuring brand-specific driving challenges, and Car Viewer, allowing players to admire vehicles in their garages.

Shuffle Races Are Coming Back
One of the most anticipated additions could be the return of Shuffle Races, a multiplayer mode first introduced in Gran Turismo 5.
The mode establishes a performance limit before randomly assigning cars to players, creating unpredictable races where competitors won't necessarily know what machinery they'll be driving.

An Online Drift Trial will give players another way to compete, allowing them to test their drifting skills against competitors around the world. For younger players and beginners, there’s a Family mode that’s designed to make the game more accessible while still offering something for experienced racers.

Listening to the players
With Gran Turismo 7 nearing its fifth anniversary, the Spec IV update feels like more than just another routine content drop.

The combination of returning fan-favorite content, new circuits, expanded game modes, and quality-of-life features suggests Polyphony Digital is continuing to evolve the game around what its community wants.
More details about Spec IV will be revealed during Round 3 of the Gran Turismo World Series in Singapore on October 3.
