Chevy has a new Spin MPV for 2019

Chevy has a new Spin MPV for 2019
Chevrolet ups the ante in compact MPV market with 2019 Spin
The Chevrolet Spin may no longer be in the Philippines, but it is still being sold in other markets like Brazil. In fact, the company recently unveiled a refreshed model of the MPV in South America billed as a 2019 model year.
Featuring subtle and major changes inside and out, the 2019 Chevrolet Spin received mechanical and styling upgrades, along with new amenities and equipment. With it, Chevrolet claims the 2019 Spin can meet the demands of those that need SUV-like space, without having to contend with its huge size.

Starting with the most obvious change, the 2019 Spin gets an evolutionary redesign. While it still retains the MPV looks, the updated Spin now comes with crossover- / SUV-like styling cues. The front fascia has bolder-looking headlights that is paired with LED daytime running lights. It also gets a sporty-looking front bumper, and a sleek front grill which add to the Spin's upgraded looks.
But it's around the back where the Spin gets the heaviest of changes. Gone are the square taillights as they have been replaced by horizontal units. Even the back window appears to have been redesigned as it now has a more contoured shape. Finally, the MPV gets new five-spoke, 16-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin receives a modest refresh as well. Gone is the motorcycle-inspired gauge cluster as it has been replaced with a similar-looking instrument panel derived from the Trax. There's also a new steering wheel with multimedia controls, a new touchscreen MyLink infotainment system, gloss black plastic trim pieces, faux metal accents and new fabric seats. For added safety, ISOFIX anchors for child seats will come as standard on the 2019 Spin.

Another noteworthy upgrade on the 2019 Spin is the sliding second row that can be moved 50mm forward and 60mm backwards. Not only will this allow the storage of longer loads, the new sliding seats also makes for improved legroom for those seating in the third-row. Other additional features available in the 2019 Spin include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, reverse camera, automatic windshield wipers, automatic headlight adjustment, and remote engine start.
Under the hood, the Brazilian-spec Spin is powered by a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. It puts out 111 PS along with 173 Nm of torque. Thanks to the engine's generous pulling power, Chevy claims that the new Spin can go from 0 – 100 km/h in 11.3 seconds.

To help increase the Spin's fuel economy, Chevrolet installed an active front grill on the Spin. The system automatically opens and closes the front grill depending on the vehicle's speed and engine temperature. At higher speeds, the active grill closes in order to reduce drag and improve aerodynamics.
For now, Chevrolet Philippines hasn't announced plans to bring back the Spin. But with small, compact seven-seaters becoming the new trendy option, we won't be surprised if the bow-tie brand decides to have another go at the lucractive MPV market.
