BMW teams up with Nissan to expand DC Fast charger access
Fast charging stations for BMW i3, Nissan LEAF and EVs with quick-charge ports planned
BMW Group and Nissan Motor Company Ltd recently announced its joint venture with EVgo, a DC Fast charging operator.
The three companies aim to expand DC Fast charging station across the U.S. with an additional 174 locations in 33 states now available to all EV owners in those markets, and over 50 more planned to be installed in 2017. The additional dual-port chargers being installed in 2017 are also planned to be easily accessible to EV owners on the go.

This expansion, designed to support Nissan Leaf and BMW i3 owners and promote increased adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) nationwide, builds on the 120 dual-port DC Fast chargers that BMW and Nissan announced back in December 2015.
“We recognized early on that meaningful partnerships like this would be essential in order to support the expansion of convenient and accessible electric vehicle charging options," said Robert Healey, Head of EV Infrastructure for BMW of North America.

"Infrastructure for all is a key strategic priority for us as we continue expanding the network of dual-port quick chargers across the country. We look forward to ongoing teamwork and the continued build-out of public quick-charge stations," said JeSean Hopkins, Senior Manager, Nissan EV Infrastructure Strategy & Business Development.
Each location also provides a dual 50 kW DC Fast charging station for the Nissan Leaf, BMW i3 and other EVs equipped with quick-charge ports. EVgo claims that these 50 kW stations can charge EVs from Nissan and BMW up to 80-percent in less than half an hour. Furthermore, the stations can easily be located through a dedicated app for the Nissan Leaf and BMW i3.
