No trips in the South for motorsports teams, drivers, fans, and enthusiasts next year.

Batangas Racing Circuit will pause its track operations starting December 7, 2026. But instead of the annual closure for track maintenance that usually lasts for a month, the Home of Philippine Motorsports will be closed for an entire year.

Based on the announcement of the circuit operators, BRC will have its old asphalt removed and the track will be resurfaced as part of its rehabilitation. The smoother asphalt should translate to faster lap times around the circuit once it reopens in 2028, without taking away the challenge of tackling its sweeping turns, banked corners, and elevation changes that make up BRC’s unique track characteristics.

The 30-year-old race track opened in 1996 as the country's first dedicated race track for cars, motorcycles, and open wheel race cars that was purpose-built from the ground up.

Over its history, BRC has staged the Asian Formula 3 Series, Asia Road Racing Championship, Philippine GT Championship, Philippine Superbike Championship, National Drag Racing Championship, FlatOut Race Series, and the Makabayan Cup Endurance Race Challenge Series. In August 2026, it also hosted the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup for the first time.

While we’re pretty sure many will miss going to BRC next year, we can always hop on the simulators to drive the laser-scanned BRC in Assetto Corsa and pile on the laps while we wait for the new and improved real thing come 2028.
