The Atto 2 wasn’t the only electrified vehicle BYD Cars Philippines revealed today at Ayala Malls Trinoma.

Also making its Philippine debut is the 2026 Seal 5 DM-i, and it has received a new look, inside and out.

Starting with the exterior changes, the Seal 5 now features a sleeker and more dynamic appearance derived from the brand’s Ocean Series of models. It gets a sportier bumper with a mesh-type grille, Sealion 6-inspired LED headlights & daytime running lights, and redesigned LED taillights. Also present are new 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/60 series tires.

Size-wise, the 2026 Seal 5 DM-i measures 4780mm long, 1837mm wide, and 1515mm tall on a 2718mm wheelbase. It also has a turning radius of 5.5 meters, 120mm of ground clearance, a curb weight of 1,475 kg, and a cargo capacity of 522 liters with the rear seats deployed, which can be expanded to 1,295 liters when you fold the 60:40 split rear seats.

For its latest update, the BYD Seal 5 DM-i will be available (for now) in Essential and Dynamic variants. This means a simpler list of features at more affordable prices. That means there could be more premium models on the way for the updated Seal 5 DM-i, as well as a bigger battery pack, which we'll get to later.

Back to the vehicle itself, the 2026 Seal 5 can come with either fabric seats or leather upholstery, depending on the variant. However, all models will come with manual-adjust seats, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen media display with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a 4-speaker sound system, automatic climate control, keyless entry, and a host of USB charging ports.

Other available amenities include a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, cruise control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a host of airbags for extra peace of mind.

Powering the Seal 5 is BYD’s Super DM-i system. For 2026, it consists of a 1.5L four-cylinder engine acting as a generator that powers a 7.42 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery and an electric motor that drives the front wheels and makes 163 PS with 210 Nm of torque. On battery power alone, BYD claims the sedan can cover up to 55 km, based on the NEDC standard. But with the help of a full 65-liter tank of fuel, BYD says its combined system range is rated at 1,600 km.

Recharging the battery can be done in two ways: with the 1.5L engine while on the road or via a 3.3 kW Type 2 AC charging system. BYD says that the Seal 5’s battery can be recharged from 15% to 100% in 2.5 hours. Also available is a portable charger and a wall-mounted charger with every purchase of the Seal 5 DM-i.

Available colors for the 2026 BYD Seal 5 DM-i include Arctic White, Cosmos Black, Deep Sea Blue, and Harbor Gray.

Pricing of the new BYD Seal 5 DM-i is as follows:

Seal 5 DM-i Essential - PHP 948,000 (PHP 898,000 until August 31)

Seal 5 DM-i Dynamic - PHP 1,048,000 (PHP998,000 until Augusr 31)
