Isuzu supplies modern PUVs for Boracay
Isuzu Philippine turns over two new modern PUVs to Boracay Transport Multi-Purpose Cooperative
Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) continues to provide local transport groups their fleet of modern PUVs that are safer, cleaner and more passenger-friendly.
After turning over several units of their modern PUVs on the island last October 2018 in the island, IPC recently delivered two units of their modern PUVs to the Boracay Transport Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BLTMPC).
The first units will form the total of 15 PUVs that BLTMPC has acquired from IPC. These units will ply the main circumferential road that goes around the interior of the island, and can pick-up / drop-off passengers at designated stops.

Joseph Bautista, Head of Sales Division at IPC, said that the turn over couldn't have come at a better time as more and more tourists are flocking towards the island. “In the past few months, we have seen the earnest rehabilitation of Boracay Island; from its beaches toward the road network and infrastructure. And now that the island has just recently been re-opened to the public, we are very happy to have been a strategic part of this rehabilitation,” said Bautista.
Like the units delivered last year, the Class II PUVs that were recently handed over can carry 30 passengers and are air-conditioned. They also come with several in-car conveniences and features like: CCTVs, dashcam, GPS tracking system, and an automated fare collection system. The bodies, on the other hand, were assembled by Almazora Motors. Powering the two PUVs is the 3.0-liter, 4JH1-TC turbo-diesel inline-four that is rated Euro IV. It puts out 106 PS along with 230 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Yasuhiko Oyama, IPC vice president for Sales, thanked BLTMPC for choosing and trusting Isuzu to provide them their first fleet of modern PUVs. “We are very proud to say that Isuzu has not only achieved another milestone but has also continued its legacy by having these Isuzu PUVs to run in Boracay's roads under the government’s PUV modernization program (PUVMP),” added Oyama.
Isuzu is hoping that more transport groups switch to having modern PUVs in order for passengers to experience a cleaner and greener commute every day.
