Subaru WRX gets style upgrade with GT Edition prototype
Subaru debuts WRX and WRX Wagon GT Edition prototype at 2024 Singapore Motor Show

Subaru may not be known for making the most stylish vehicles in the market, but that does not stop them from amping up the looks of their models.

Making its debut at the 2024 Singapore Motor Show are the GT Edition variants of the Subaru WRX and the WRX Wagon. While Subaru calls it a prototype, the styling enhancements to the all-wheel-drive sports sedan and its wagon counterpart look ready for production rollout.

The Subaru WRX sedan’s GT Edition kit consists of a front, side, and rear skirt with its leading edges painted in silver. Subaru also gave the WRX sedan an STi honeycomb grille for good measure. To top it off, the Subaru WRX GT Edition rolls on 18-inch wheels finished in matte black with a more aggressive wheel offset.

Likewise, the GT Edition wraparound kit was applied to the WRX Wagon, but the protrusions of the under spoilers are less pronounced. Also, the WRX Wagon GT Edition kit is finished in gloss black instead of the matte black treatment done to the sedan. Lastly, the WRX Wagon rolls on a different set of 18-inch wheels and is painted in silver.

Power figures of the WRX and WRX Wagon GT Edition remain the same. The 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder boxer engine of both vehicles put out 275 PS and 350 Nm of torque, and are paired to a Lineartronic CVT with 8-speed manual mode that delivers power to all four wheels in Subaru’s symmetrical all-wheel-drive system.
Subaru is yet to confirm the official launch of the GT Edition variants for both the WRX and WRX Wagon. But who knows, these two might make their way to the country by this April’s Manila International Auto Show. Stay tuned.
