Save Fuel: Free train rides tomorrow, June 12
DOTr announces free train rides during Araw ng Kalayaan
Fuel prices remain near record highs, with no sign of returning to the sub-PHP 55-per-liter levels many motorists once enjoyed. While June 12, 2026, has been declared a national holiday in celebration of the Philippines’ 128th Independence Day, not everyone will be spending the day at home. Some still have errands to run, appointments to keep, or places to be.
The good news is that you may be able to leave your car or motorcycle parked and save money on fuel.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced free rides on selected rail lines as part of the Independence Day celebration. Commuters can ride LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 for FREE from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and again from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on June 12. LRT-1 runs from Dr. A. Santos Avenue in Parañaque through Manila and into Quezon City. On the other hand, LRT-2 connects Recto in Manila to Antipolo City, while MRT-3 serves commuters along EDSA from Pasay City to Quezon City.
If your destination is within walking distance of any of these stations, tomorrow might be a good time to give the train a try. With fuel prices still elevated, every peso saved at the pump counts. Just make sure to check the time so you can take advantage of the free train rides.
