Is Jeep saying goodbye to the V8-powered Wrangler?
It looks like Jeep is saying goodbye to the HEMI V8 Wrangler Rubicon
It looks like the V8-powered Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 that can do 0 - 97 km/h in just 4.4 seconds and hit the quarter mile in only 13 seconds may not be long for this world. Despite being revealed just several years ago, it seems the automaker already plans on discontinuing the Wrangler Rubicon 392.
According to an internal document sent to dealers in North America, Jeep has put out a challenge to dealers that can move more cars for January 2024 compared to last year's sales performance. Whosoever will be able to sell more vehicles to customers will receive an allocation for a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition.

While the document doesn’t exactly state the fate of the V8-powered 4x4, the fact that its full name is “Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition” could be an indication that the end is nigh for the Wrangler with a HEMI under the hood. However, it’s not altogether surprising that the Wrangler 392 Rubicon seems to be heading for the chopping block.

For starters, Dodge has stopped building HEMI-powered Challengers and Chargers. Meanwhile, the new Ram 1500 is now being offered with the new twin-turbo inline-six Hurricane engine as the HEMI V8 is now only being offered in the Ram 1500 Classic. Even the flagship Grand Wagoneer no longer comes with a V8 under the hood.
Last but not least, we reported last year that the Jeep Wrangler is supposedly going electric starting in 2028. Combined with the fact that Jeep is set to offer more electrified engines including the 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, axing the V8-powered Wrangler could be a signal that Jeep is already doing some spring cleaning.

If you’ve been holding off getting a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, perhaps you might want to contact Jeep Philippines and ask if they’re still accepting indent orders for the HEMI-powered 4x4 SUV. That’s because locally, the Wrangler is only being offered with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
