Bronco or F-150? Ford PH gets approval for 2.7L Ecoboost V6 model
Ford looking to add another vehicle to their PH lineup
Ford Philippines just recently launched the next-generation Ranger and Everest, which received quite a warm response from the public. Now, it looks like the manufacturer wants to carry the momentum and introduce another brand-new model.
We got hold of information that Ford Group Philippines has received approval for a passenger vehicle with a gasoline engine that has an exact displacement of 2687cc. To round that up, that translates to 2.7 liters.
So far, Ford does not have a vehicle in the local lineup that has that displacement, leading us to believe they could bring in a new model with the aforementioned 2.7-liter Ecoboost V6. Upon checking the global Ford lineup, there are only two vehicles that could possibly be brought into the country – the Ford Bronco and the gas-powered F-150.
Currently, the Ford F-150 exists in the brand's local lineup, but it's only available in the 3.0-liter, six-cylinder Powerstroke turbodiesel. With diesel prices more expensive than gasoline these days, bringing in the Ecoboost V6 does make sense in the Philippine setting. Not to mention, this could even bring down the sticker price of the F-150, since gasoline variants are usually priced lower than their diesel counterparts.

On the other hand, bringing in the Ford Bronco should give the brand a direct competitor to the Jeep Wrangler and add to the choices of local 4x4 enthusiasts, considering the growing popularity of overlanding in the country. If you've already seen some Ford Broncos roaming the local roads, those units most likely came from gray market importers and dealers.
The 2.7-liter Ecoboost V6 engine produces 335 PS and 563 Nm in the Bronco, while the F-150's unit makes slightly less at 330 PS and 542 Nm of torque. Both models utilize a 10-speed automatic transmission.
If you had it your way, which of the two would you want to see brought in? The gas-powered F-150 or the go-anywhere Bronco? Let us know in the comments.
