The most affordable Geely Emgrand variant in PH now available
Earlier this year, Geely officially joined the sedan market when they launched the four-door Emgrand. While it may be a compact sedan, the Emgrand is aimed squarely against the subcompact market populated by the likes of the Toyota Vios, Nissan Almera, Honda City, and the MG5.
We already reviewed both the top-of-the-line Premium and the mid-grade Comfort variants of the all-new Emgrand. But where is the entry-level S version that’s meant for fleet customers or those who still prefer to row their own?

Actually, Geely Philippines has been selling it for a few months now and we recently got all of the details and pricing for it. But first, let’s take a look at what Geely made to the exterior for the Emgrand S.
For the most affordable Emgrand, Geely didn’t have to change much. It still comes with LED headlights with LED daytime running lights, sleek LED taillights, and power side mirrors. The only revision Geely applied to the Emgrand S are the 15-inch steelies (with hubcaps) that are wrapped in 195/65 series tires. Remember, the Comfort and Premium come with the bigger 17-inch alloys with 205/50 rubber.
Inside the Emgrand S, it comes with an all-black interior shared with the Comfort variant. It also gets the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system from higher-grade models. It comes standard with Bluetooth, AM/FM radio, USB, and screen mirroring for smartphones.

Other standard amenities include a digital air-conditioning system with rear A/C vents, a 3.5-inch multi-info display with analog gauges, fabric seats, and 60:40 split rear seats with a pass-through function for storing long cargo.
If anything, the S variant shares most of the Comfort’s features except for the 2-speaker sound system (the Comfort comes with 4 speakers).
Under the hood, the Emgrand S gets the same 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine with D-CVVT. It makes 102 PS at 5600 rpm along with 142 Nm of torque between 4400 to 4800 rpm. Instead of a CVT driving the front wheels, the Emgrand S is only paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. It also doesn’t come with the selectable drive modes as that’s only available on the Comfort and Premium models.

When it comes to safety features, the Emgrand S is fitted with dual front airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, hill-start assist, traction & stability control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and an engine immobilizer. Despite serving as the base model, the Geely Emgrand S still came with plenty of safety kits.
Those looking for an affordable four-door that’s over 4.6 meters long and still comes with a manual transmission can get the 2022 Geely Emgrand S. It’s now available at select Geely dealerships and retails for PHP 753,000.
